The new Learning Disabilities Centre is a facility with very specialised user requirements and Campus integration issues allowing students with learning disabilities to study in a bespoke facility that is both part of the Campus yet functionally segregated.


The proposed activities and spaces required within the LDC include tutorial classrooms, practical tutorial rooms such as art, textiles and I.T., catering preparation with outward sale point to the public and sensory room. In addition to this, there are several staff and administrative support rooms and w.c. / locker areas. As classroom sizes vary, an overflow activity / classroom space is proposed within a new courtyard structure to be constructed to the north of the east wing and to the south of the Learning Resources Centre.
