Wigford Yard, Lincoln

The design concept for this development is the creation of a quality and innovative landmark building that complies with the aspirations of the Brayford Yard Masterplan. The buildings importance at the heart of this Masterplan and adjacent to the University Campus and Business School give it the opportunity to visually enhance this key location.

The proposals have been developed mindful of the City of Lincoln aspirations for a pedestrian link from Brayford Wharf East to the High Street and other urban design aims identified in the Wigford Yard Masterplan. A full Urban Design Policy Review and Analysis has been carried out by the Team and is included within the submission to support the building massing and footprint proposed that generates a total of 335 individual student bed spaces, with a large central residential common room space including games rooms and a coffee shop area.

The Design Team are both experienced in the design and operation of bespoke ac commodation for International and Postgraduate students. These types of students expect and demand a different type of accommodation to Undergraduates and utilise their living and common areas in a different manner. However, the scheme allows for a mixture of undergraduate and postgraduate students with 4, 5 and 6 bedroom cluster apartments more suitable for Undergraduates and the studio and 1 bedroom units more appropriate for international and Postgraduate students.
