Transformation of the Emergency Department and new 6 Theatre Surgical Centre.
The scheme entails a four storey 55,000 ft2 extension to the existing ED at Manchester Royal Infirmary, and an internal reconfiguration and refurbishment of the existing department. The new expanded facilities will provide modernised facilities for the delivery of ED care and treatment, as well as increasing capacity by the addition of a further 10 Resuscitation Bays and 27 Majors Cubicles. The project also includes the creation of a new Theatre Suite, including 6 no. UCV Operating Theatres and a 9 Bay Recovery Area, to support the hospital’s developing role as a leading centre for specialist surgery across the region.
