Five-storey refurbishment in a conservation area.
Sited in the Leazes Conservation area, immediately to the east of St James’ Park, this 1980s office building was stripped back to leave only the frame and facades. New windows, a new basement and 147 new student studios were put back in. As with many refurbishments, the quirks of the existing building led to some interesting, light filled rooms, not least the duplex studios in the roof space.
